Attempting to fix the logo

uhero logo

I have tried to design a better logo than the last one.
The typeface used: Shuriken Boy (found on TypeKit)

With the typeface I duplicated it and blended it together and added an offset path. A light pink and blue is to target children and both genders. The yellow halo is added because there is super powers in the game, i’m probably going to use an outline on the Halo to make it match the type. Yellow, blue, and red are some of the most common colours used on comic books and heroes so I thought i’d make it similar.

Logo progress

Process of trying to make a final logo:
The top logo on the left is what I started with and tried to develop it from there.
I tried to experiment with different styles and colours and different placements of the halo, it started off looking really bad.

I experimented more with strokes and the level of 3d it looks.
Other attempts of logos

Inspirations of the logo are mostly from other children’s games such as: ‘RelationShapes’, and ‘My Backpack’ both apps for children educating them in shapes and digital reading.
This is just so I can attempt on making it as close to my target audience as possible, as well as making it suit the games style.

Hair options for girls

Hair coloured girls

When a child first joins ‘Uhero!’ they make a hero version of themselves. Customisability would make it more personal to them and it’ll also encourage them to complete tasks to earn more KP to unlock more accessories and styles.

Other games that have customisation:
RuneScape, The Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Final Fantasy, The Sims 4, Guild Wars 2, and many more.

It makes a game more interesting and enjoyable.

In ‘Uhero!’ the more KP a child earns the more they level up and unlock new content such as levels, super powers, and more accessories.

Here’s an example of hair girls unlock at higher levels.

Higher level girl hair

Hair colours are chosen by children, they can choose between loads of different colours to make their hero version look exactly how they’d imagine them to be.

All accessories for the hero will keep the hand drawn and flat colours looks to keep it all consistent.

I drew the hair on Illustrator.

First attempt at designing the logo

First logo
First attempt of designing the logo for Uhero! could have gone worse but I still don’t like it. The U is meant to represent a marker like the U is hand drawn, the cape and halo is to emphasise that you make a super hero version of yourself and can unlock these sorts of accessories with the KP you earn through completing tasks.

It looks unattractive to me but it’s still sort of meeting the target audience. Still need to work into it loads, but overall I think that’ll be the design of it, the colours may change and possibly some textures will be added.

Logo created on Adobe Illustrator so it’s a decent quality vector.
Everything but the typeface is hand drawn using the pen tool.

Branding/app colours

Kids colour pallette

Looking at things such as toys, games, and apps that are targeted at children, they often have a lot of different bright colours.

I’ve made this colour palette using Adobe Kuler, i’m yet to see how these colours will look in the design of Uhero, but I may tone the colours slightly lighter so it’s not too in the children’s face when they’re playing mini games.

These may possibly be the main colours however, the child’s heroes hair, clothes and accessories will be multiple different colours.

(
Example level 0 character design)

I started drawing the outlines of possible characters.
In Uhero, a child will select their gender and customise their character.

I drew in style as this is the closest I could get to the 5 – 11 target audience range. I’m going to see how it looks with colour, and experiment with different styles. I will also draw out different hairstyles and outfits for the children to choose from.

(Of course as children level up cooler accessories will be available for them to choose from.)
